Roelef is gedoopt op 23 oktober 1642 in de Martinikerk te Groningen en woonde bij zijn geboorte in de Oosterstraat.
Van Roelef Trox is verder bekend dat op den 5 october 1700 er een kwestie was tussen pastor Haselbeeck contra Roelef Trox over de reparatie van een schoorsteen.

De familie woonde later in de Wolbertstraat.
