Death came to Dr. Marie C. Verhey on Tuesday evening, August 2, 1960 at her residence.

Marie, daughter of Korstiaan and Mary Kuyper Verhey, was born at Yankton, S. D. on June 22, 1885. Her parents moved to Pella, Ia., not long after her birth and it was here that she received her education at the Pella Public School.

She was graduated from the American College of Osteopathy in June of 1918 and began her practice in osteopathy at Knoxville, Ia. She practiced there until 1931 when she moved to Pella and served until health necessitated her retirement in March of 1965.

Dr. Verhey was a member of the First Reformed church in Pella.

She was the last one of her family to be taken in death. Preceding her were the following brothers and sisters: John Verhey; Jane, Mrs. Epp Roorda; Dena, Mrs. John Hospers and James Verhey.

Funeral services for Dr Verhey were conducted on Saturday, August 6, 1986 from the Chapel of Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home. Rev. Richard A. De Jong officiated with interment being made in the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella, Iowa.
