Notes about Cornelia LAGERWEIJ

Lili, de oudste, was naar men zegt, zeer begaafd in vele opzichten.
Zo kon ze prachtig pianospelen, borduren, heerlijk koken en was daarnaast ook nog eens zeer intelligent.
Ze haalde haar einddiploma gymnasium met zeer hoge cijfers, waarna ze voor het voltooien van haar opvoeding een jaar naar een kostschool voor chique jongedames in Lausanne ging.
Hoe ze haar man Tonny Venema, mijn grootvader, ontmoet heeft, weten we niet, maar vrijwel zeker speelde Ton’s nichtje Frans Bol, die enige tijd in Zutphen bij de familie Walland verbleef, daar een belangrijke rol in.
In juni 1901 verloofde Lili (toen bijna 21 jaar) zich met mijn grootvader Tonny Venema (30 jaar) en een halfjaar later, op 12 december 1901 trouwden ze, waarna ze in Sappemeer gingen wonen, wat (vooral na Lausanne!) een enorme overgang voor haar moet zijn geweest.
