Notes about Elizabeth de Mots

Elizabeth Rodenburgh, 100, of Sioux Center died Friday, July 30, at the Sioux Center Nursing Home. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 2, at the Vander Ploeg Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilcox officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The former Elizabeth De Mots was born August 3. 1892, at Sioux Center, daughter of Garret and Evertje (Schuurkamp) De Mots. She was one of seven children - two sisters and four brothers. She attended Sioux Center public schools and graduated in 1910. She earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa).

She taught for many years in Sioux Center and Sheldon. She married Mark Rodenburgh June 30, 1939, at Sioux Center. He died February 17, 1952, at Sioux Center. After her retirement, she taught citizenship classes for Dutch immigrants.

She was a member of Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
