Rodney Schoffelman, age 54 of Hartford, SD passed away Monday August 19, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm Sunday September 1, 2019 at Miller Funeral Chapel, in Hartford, with a time of fellowship to follow.
Rodney Ernest Schoffelman was born October 16. 1964 in Denver CO. He was the son of Melvin and Aldora (Mammenga) Schoffelman and with his two older sisters Ronda and Robin made their family complete. Rod was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Hartford SD. Rodney attended grade school in Parker SD and high school in Parker and West Central. After High school he went to National Guard Training at Ft Leonardwood MO.
Rod loved being on the farm and helping his dad farm and that is where his love for tractors began. From an early age Rod loved taking things apart and putting them back together. He could always be found tinkering with something. Rod worked as a salesman for Schoeneman Lumber.
Rod loved his toys including his pink jeep, SS Monte Carlo, Camaro, boats, trucks, snowmobiles, tractors and race car. He treasured the time with his dad restoring the Avery tractor and working on the John Deere and Allis Chalmers. He loved fishing with friends, family tractor pulls and racing his dragster.
Rod was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Melvin and Aldora Schoffelman and sister Robin.
Grateful for having shared his life are his sister and brother in law Ronda and Wayne Maass of Cheney KS; his 3 nephew's Nate and Candi Maass, Derby KS, Ben Maass, Wichita KS, James and Erika Maass, Mount Hope KS. His niece Nikki Schoffelman of Sioux Falls SD; 7 great nephew's Kadyn Franklin, Henry, Caleb and Joseph Maass, Derby, KS and Hunter, Gavin and Isaac Maass of Mount Hope KS, and 2 great nieces, Marley Black Lance and Anika Owen of Sioux Falls SD; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
