Funeral services were held at Faith Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday for Bena G. Schoffelman, who died on May 26, 2004.
Rev. Sarah Hagena officiated at the service.

Bena G. (Straatmeyer) Schoffelman was born on a farm in Turner County, north of Chancellor, South Dakota on Sept. 18, 1908, the daughter of Jacob B. and Rachel (Dirksen) Straatmeyer. She attended Golden Rod School and grew up there.

On March 2, 1927 she was united in marriage to Will A. Schoffelman at Lennox.

Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by five sisters: Gertie Javers, Jurina Schoffelman, Hattie Schoffelman, Marie Otten and her twin sister, Tilda Straatmeyer; two brothers: Arnold Straatmeyer and Reinder Straatmeyer. She was the last surviving member of the Jacob B Straatmeyer family.

Having been a failing health Bena died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Wednesday afternoon, May 26, 2004. She attained the age of 95 years, eight months and eight days.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons and their wives: Melvin E. and Aldora Schoffelman of Hartford, Lester D. and Shirley M. Schoffelman of Mitchell and Richard L. and Shirley K. Schoffelman of St. Paul, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister-in-law, Hermina Straatmeyer of Lennox; plus many nieces and nephews, other relatives and
