"Mr. John Viers settled with his family in 834 on the SE 1/4 of Sec 5, Town 7 N, Range 8E and continued his residence on said lot until his death in 1878. He had held several township offices during his early settlement, was a good andindustrious farmer and citizen. His widow has lived on the old farm since they bought the place where she now lives.

Their children of which there were 9 boys and 4 girls, to wit James Viers was a physician and practiced medicine until his death in West Unity, Wm. County, Ohio in 1863. Peter Viers died at Liberty in Henry County, Ohio in 1878. Epronlives at Liberty, Henry County, Ohio and has a large medical practice. Elish married Miss Eliza Teochwarth and lives in Henry County, OH. Aaron married Miss Stout and lives at Defiance, OH. C. O. W. Viers lives at Liberty, Henry Co.John Viers Jr. lives at Damascus, Henry Co., Ohio. Samuel Viers died at Brook Station, Virginia in 1862 and was brought back and buried in the Viers Cemetery in this township. There were 5 of the boys who served in the Union Army inthe War of the Rebellion - Samuel, John, James, and Ezram and David.

The oldest daughter Lurona, married Mr. John Wright and now resides in Henry County. Elizabeth married Mr. James Noble and also lives in Henry County, Ohio. Anna May married Mr. Lyman Odell and died in 1861. Rebecca married Mr. JohnFlickinger a thorough farmer and interprising citizen. He has held the office of Justice of the Peace several years and resides in this township near the old homestead of Mr. John Viers, his wife's father."
