'Mr. John Viers settled with his family in [1]834 on the SE 1/4 of Sec 5, Town 7 N, Range 8E and continued his residence on said lot until his death in 1878. ... Their children of which there were 9 boys and 4 girls, to wit ... Rebeccamarried Mr. John Flickinger a thorough farmer and interprising citizen. He has held the office of Justice of the Peace several years and resides in this township near the old homestead of Mr. John Viers, his wife's father.'
