Notes about Clarence Albert Navorska

Clarence Albert Navorska

Born at home 3957 W 22nd St Cleveland, OH

Author: Rusch, Otto; Evangelical (i.e. Lutheran) Pastor, Title: Clarens Naworska Baptism Certificate, (Publication site: Brooklyn OH, Publisher: German Reformed Chr.., Publication date: xxiii Sept MCMVI), Repository: David A.Navorska, Irving TX - original document.

"Clarens Albert Sohn von Albert Naworska & Dessen Ehegattin Alwine, geb. Greenberg geboren den 24. July 1906 in Cleveland, O ist am 23. September 1906 von Unterseicheneten im Names des Dreieingen Gottes Getauft worden Taufzeugen waren Die Eltern Frau Friedericka Noworska & Dr. Ernst Ernst Bärwald Otto Rusch Evang. Pastor."

Verses Marc 10.14 & 16.16 printed at bottom of form.

The christening took place at the Lutheran Reformed Chuurch in Brooklyn, OH. Clarence told David Navorska that that part of Brooklyn was annexed by Cleveland. Aunt 'Rica' Novorska is sister-in-law to Michael Nowodworski, Albert's father. Aunt Rica made the ending of her name feminine when she became a widow. Aunt Rica's descendants spelt their name Novorska. Albert's descendants took the spelling: Navorska.

Bärwald is a family friend. Alvina's father, Karl Greenberg, was custodian of the church. As a boy, Clarence helped his grand-father with the hymnals. As is evident in the spellings, Pastor Rusch used the rules of German phonics. The 'v' sounds were spelt with the letter 'w'. Alvina is spelt Alwine. The silent 'E' at the end of Clarence does not exist. Also, a name would not end with a 'c' so Clarence becomes Clarens. Navorska and Novorska become Naworska and Noworska respectively.

Studied the piano. Was inspired by Ignace Padereweski in a concert at Severence Hall in Cleveland, OH. I think he was fond of his lady music teacher also. Became a meat cutter. He owned a little store for awhile. His partner, Mr. Northam died, leaving him sole principle. He sold the store when the Korean War began. He had his delivery boys drafted in WWII & figured the same would happen again. He did not want his wife (Lela Rose) driving a delivery truck again.
