"Barbara Kay Weaver Weds Donald D. Abels

Wedding vows were spoken by Miss Barbara Kay Weaver and Donald D. Abels at the First Conregational Church in Buffalo Center on Sunday, February 11 at 2:30 p.m. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. JoeAbels, all of Buffalo Center.

Rev. John D. Engels officiated at the doublering ceremony in he presence of 275 relatives and riends. Nuptial music was played jy Sharon Young, Mason City, at he organ and Cynthia Rohn, of Mason City, at the piano. Before he ceremonythey played a program of appropriate music and also accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Loran Larson as they sang, "I'll Walk With God" and Mr. Larson as he sang, "The Lord's Prayer" as the couple knelt at the altar.

The bride was escorted down he wedding path to the altar by ler father. Her maid of honor was Beverly Weaver, her sister, and bridesmaids were Barbara Abels, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Javid Abels, sister-in-law of the jridegroom.Diane Hofbauer, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

The bride chose a floor length gown of silk faced peau with fitted bodice, long sleeves that came ;o a point at the wrist with fur trimmed neckline forming a V at the back. The full skirt featured boxed pleats with tiny bows down theskirt falling into a chapel train. The fingertip veil of French illusion was held in place by a pillbox hat of pleated silk faced peau. She carried a white fur muff with red roses and ivy with seeds of pearls entwined, a gift from thebridegroom.

The attendants all wore royal blue street length dresses of silk faced peau with a round neckline coming to a V in the back. The full skirts featured box pleats at the waistline, making a full skirt They all wore matching blue shoes andwhite fur headbands All carried white muffs on which rested blue feathered carnations with ivy and white satin stream ers.

The candlelighters were Janelle Eisenhauer and Janice Abels They wore dresses identical to those of the bride's attendants.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, David Abels, a best man. Larry and Michael"

"Weaver, brothers of the bride, and joren Jacobson, friend of the "iridegroom, were groomsmen. David Spieker, cousin of the jride, was ring bearer. Ushers were Dennis Sparks of Blue Earth, Minnesota and Royce Eisenhauer.

The serving table was centered with the four-tiered wedding cake decorated in blue and white. The able was covered with a royal jlue cloth with an overlay of white nylon net and tiny blue bows. Milkglass candleholders and dishes wereused.

Cake cutters and servers were Mrs. Dick Weaver and Mrs. Richard Heyes. In charge of the coffee service were Mrs. Robert Weaver and Mrs. Keith Hagenson. Waitresses were Nola Matson, Linda Betels, Carol Abels and Deanne Betels. Kitchenhostesses were Mesdames Robert Van Hoose, Joe Keitland, Elmer Abbas and Tom Hanson.

Guests were present from Winnebago, Minneapolis, Blue Earth, and Bricelyn, Minnesota; Ringsted, Kensett, Forest City, Clear Lake, Thompson, Rake, Lakota, Ames, Mason City, Scarville, Woden, Titonka, Bancroft, Leland, Garner, Waverly,Ventura, Dike, Klemme and Buffalo Center.

Mrs. Abels is a graduate of the Buffalo Center Community School and La James Beauty School in Mason City and has been employed at the Artistic Beauty Salon in Mason City. Mr. Abels graduated from the Buffalo Center school in 1959. Theywill live on a farm north of Buffalo Center after March 1.

They spent a two week's honey moon in Arizona and California." <>

"JOE AND CORA (EISENHAUER) ABELS

Joe Abels, son of John and Johanna Minnie (Myering) Abels was born on a farm near Kamrar, Iowa on July 26, 1914. His parents later moved to a farm near Buffalo Center. He was one of four children: John, Jr., Joe, Jennie and Edward.

Cora Eisenhauer, born on July 20, 1916 is the daughter of August Eisenhauer and Helen (Berschman) Eisenhauer. She is one of six children: Anna, Cora, Harold, Jack, Velma and Dorothy.

Joe and Cora met at the end of their parents' farm driveways where they lived across frm one another about three miles north and three miles east of Buffalo Center. This acquaintance blossomed into marriage on January 15, 1937.

"Donald Abels

Donald Dean Abels, age 79, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 12 at home due to natural causes. Don was 79 years old. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, with Michael Kroeker officiating. Burial will take place at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Social distancing guidelines are recommended.

Donald was born on May 18, 1941 in Buffalo Center, the son of Joe and Cora (Eisenhauer) Abels. He was the second of 5 children born to the couple. He graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1959.

Don loved being outdoors working on the farm with his father and older brother, Dave, which ultimately led him to a career in the agriculture industry. His chosen profession was working for Hesston Farm Equipment and then Case IH, selling farm equipment. This career path led him to residing in Sioux Falls, SD, Racine, WI, Pierre, SD, and Des"

Moines. During early retirement, Don chose to divide his time between living in Sioux Falls, SD and Sun City, AZ and eventually permanently living in Sun City.

Don had an amazing sense of humor and loved joking around with family and friends (and the occasional waitress). He was very intentional in relationships and often "dropped by" in person or by phone to stay connected to his loved ones.

His most endearing relationship was with His Lord, Jesus Christ. He gave his life to Christ in his teenage years at First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. Since that time, he has served the Lord through usher"

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marlys Abels; his children: Jeff (Mona) Veach, Lori (Ron) Krenz and Christy (Matt) Kroeker; seven grandchildren: Stacy Veach, Paige (Christopher) Gehler, Lindsey Veach, Brittany (Nathan) Bandstra, Caden Kroeker, Avery Kroeker and Maclaren Kroeker; and a great grandchild Flynn Bandstra; three sisters and their husbands: Barb (Larry) Weaver, Jan (Dave) Kiewiet, and Bev (Al) Murra; three sisters- and brothers-in-law: Connie (Rich) DeVries, Judy (Dan) Lokke and Renae (Rick) Goltz; as well as many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to name.

In Heaven he is celebrating with his parents: Joe and Cora Abels, a brother and his wife Dave (Jane) Abels, and many other family and friends who have preceded him in death.
