Raymond Wendell Wempen, age 85, of Noel, MO, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Medical Lodge in Neosho, MO. There will be a gravesite service on Thursday, June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center."

Raymond Wendell Wempen, age 85, of Noel, MO, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Medical Lodge in Neosho, MO. there will be a gravesite service on Thursday, June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center, Pastor Judy Junkermeier will officiate.
Raymond was born April 2, 1932 in Des Moines, the son of William and Dessa (Leonard) Wempen Ward. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Diedrich and Grace Wempen in rural Buffalo Center. His early years were spent helping at his grandparents' farm. Raymond attended school in Buffalo Center.
He was a Korean Army veteran and traveled to various places throughout Europe. While in the service, Raymond was in communications and also in the drum and bugle corps. After his Army service, Raymond worked at various occupations throughout the western United States and eventually settled in Noel, MO.
Raymond is survived by friends, cousins and other relatives.
Raymond was preceded in death by his grandparents, Diedrich and Grace Wempen; parents, William Wempen and Dessa Leonard; maternal grandparents, his stepfather, half-brothers, aunts and uncles, and many cousins."
