George Ricks

Funeral services for George Ricks, 78, were held Saturday, Dec. 24 at the Ramsey Reformed Church. Pastor Larry Ten Haken officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services.

Mr. Ricks died Thursday, December 22, 1988 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Casket bearers were Richard Beenken, Joe Sleper, Dennis Dreesman, Marlyn Franzen, John Cordes and Roger Rippentrop.

Interment was in the church cemetery and the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

George Ricks was born on July 14, 1910 at Titonka, Iowa to Ed and Gertie Bergman Ricks. He received his education in the rural Titonka School system.

George farmed in the Titonka area most of his life. He was united in marriage to Martha Adams Stroebel on December 27, 1946 at the Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka.

George was a member of the Ramsey Reformed Church, where he had served as an elder and deacon. He was also a former rural school board member. George loved the farm and received great enjoyment raising animals, working in his garden andgrowing gladiolus. George retired in 1974.

He is survived by his daughter, Doris Hron and a step-son, Marvin Stroebel, both of Titonka. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Hron and Christina Ricks and Kenneth and Dennis Stroebel; 2 great grandchildren, Dawn andChristopher Stroebel and 2 sisters, Mrs. Carl (Harmka) Harms, Titonka and Edna Harringa, Buffalo Center, Iowa.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha in 1979, one infant son; two brothers and two sisters. ..."
