Military Rites Held For Edgar Ricks, 57
Edger [sic] Ricks, 57, didd suddenly Monday afternoon, November 9 of a heart attack.
He was born September 18, 1907, the son of Ed and Gertie Bergman Ricks. He attended the rural schools of German Township.
He served in the Army during World War II, receiving his training at Camp Bowie, Texas, and served in the European Theater mostly in Germany. He was honorable discharged in November of 1945 at Ft. Sheridan, Ill.
On January 21, 1947, he was united in marriage to Jennie Gruis. Four children were born to this union, Elaine, Edwin, Ronald and Dolores.
Surviving him besides his wife and children are two brothers and three sisters, Simon Ricks, Mrs Ella Boeckholt, George Ricks, Mrs Harmke Harms, all of Titonka, and Mrs. Edna Harringa of Buffalo Center, besides many relatives andfriends.
His parents and one sister, Mrs Christina Uken, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Ramsey Reformed Church and transferred to the First Reformed Church of Buffalo Center in 1955. He was a faithful member and served as deacon for a number of years.
Services were held at 1:30, Thursday, November 12 with the Rev. George Kots officiating. Burial was in the Olena Mound Cemetery with Military Honors Pallbearers were James Murray, John Ennen, Charles Murray, Clarence Penning, FredBehrends and Dick A. Beenken." <>
