"Bruce Hippen, 40

Bruce Dean Hippen, 40, of Oxnard, California, formerly of Buffalo Center, died February 25, 1989 at the Naval Hospital in Oxnard, California of cancer.

Memorial services were held at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 with Rev. William Peake officiating. There were full military rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion from BuffaloCenter.

Winter Funeral Service of Buffalo Center was in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers were Lyle Hippen, Tim Berschman, Sharon Giesman, Paul Beenken, Zella Mirick, Rochelle Ensley, Dennis Heiman and Darryl Tolzmann.

Bruce was born Janaury 29, 1949 in Buffalo Center, the son of Arnold and Elvene (Rippentrop) Hippen.

He was a 1967 graduate of Buffalo Center High School. He attended the College of Automation in Des Moines and Mankato State University majoring in computer programming.

He entered the U. S. Navy in February of 1970 and was stationed in San Diego, Memphis, Florida, Maryland, Spain, Puerto Rico and California.

He was married on October 12, 1985 in Puerto Rico to Susan Bates.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan of Oxnard; his father, Arnold Hippen of Buffalo Center; two brothers, Dennis of Virginia and Dale of Florida and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elvene."
