'Arnold Hippen, 71
Funeral services for Arnold Hippen, 71, of Buffalo Center were held Saturday afternoon, June 4 at 1:30 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. William Peake officiating.
Music was furnished by Carole Kettwick as organist and vocalists were Marlene and Alroy Krull and a congregational hymn was also sung. Casket bearers were Lyle Hippen, Ed Hippen, Phil Vaske, Art Wirtjes, Larry Gray and Andrew Winter.Mr. Hippen died Thrusday, June 2, 1994 at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery with Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Arnold Ubbe Hippen was born January 11, 1923 at Buffalo Center, Iowa to Lambert and Annie (Jutting) Hippen. He graduated from the Buffalo Center High School.
December 15, 1943 Arnold and Elvene Rippentrop were united in marriage. They lived on a farm near Buffalo Center. The couple was blessed with three sons. Elvene passed away May 29, 1968.
December 23, 1974 Arnold married Dorothy (Gruis) Rippentrop. They resided in Buffalo Center.
Arnold worked at Winnegago Industries for fourteen years, retiring in 1988. He had been active on the church consistory of First Reformed, Buffalo Center Town Council and North Iowa Regional Housing Authority.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Buffalo Center; two sons, Dennis and wife, Joan Hippen of Clifton, Virginia; Dale Hippen of Jacksonville, Florida; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Hippen of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also survivingare four step-children; Judy Egesdal and husband, Brent of Otley; Dennis and wife, Cindy Rippentrop of Elma; Gary and wife, Chris Rippentrop of DeWitt; Bruce and wife, Penny Rippentrop of Faribault, Minnesota; one brother, Melvin andwife, Gen Hippen of Mason City; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; one son, Bruce, and two sisters, Margaret Rippentrop and Fanna Albers; and one brother, Fred.' <>
