"Funeral Services For Mrs. Lammert Hippen Were Held Monday, June 3
Funeral services for Mrs. Lammert Hippen were held Monday afternoon, June 3, at the home, followed with services at the First Reformed church with the Rev. John D. Engels in charge. Interment was in Olena Mound cemetery.
Mrs. Lammert Hippen, formerly Anna Jutting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ubbe W. Jutting, was born on July 26, 1887, at Ackley, Iowa. On February 28, 1907, she was united in marriage to Lammert Hippen at Buffalo Center, Iowa. Following theirmarriage the couple took up their residence on a farm near Buffalo Center, until 1914, when they moved to Raymond, Minn., where they lived for one year, after which they returned to Buffalo Center. Here they moved to a farm southwest oftown where they lived for 29 years. To their union were born five children, three sons, and two daughters. Mr. Hippen passed away on January 7, 1941, and the mother and her family remained on the farm for three years following his death,and in February of 1944 the family moved to the south part of town to their present home.
Mrs. Hippen passed away at her home on Thursday afternoon, May 30, 1946, at 3:20 o'clock. Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage. She had apparently been in good health and even the day before her death had been busy about herhousehold duties as usual. On Wednesday forenoon about 10:30 she suffered a stroke, shortly after which she lapsed into a coma, from which she never regained consciousness. Thus at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 4 days our sisterdeparted this earthly life and went into the presence of our Lord and Saviour whom she so faithfully and loyally served throughout' her life.
Mrs. Hippen was a devout Christ-"

"ian; one who found joy and happiness in an all sufficient Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. In her youth she united with the First Reformed Church of Buffalo Center, where she also received her early Christian nstruction and was confirmedin the Christian faith. She was always interested in the work of the church; always a worker, always a faithful attendant at the divine services, where her presence will be greatly missed. She served very faithfully for many years as aSunday School teacher, and always took very active interest in the work of the church and its activities. Mrs. Hippen also at one time served as president of the Ladies Aid Society and up until the time of her death was a very activeworker in this organization of the church. She was a very faithful mother and one who had always been greatly devoted to her home and family. She was a good neighbor and her cheerful and kindly disposition won her a host of friends. Shelived her faith in a simple straightforward and hearty manner. She was loved and respected by all. Of Mrs, Hippen we say: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
The following survive who mourn her loss: Five children; Fred, Mrs. Teddy Albers, and Arnold, all of Buffalo Center, and Margaret and Melvin at home. Melvin, who served in the U. S. Navy for three years, was recently discharged from theservice.
Two sisters; Mrs. Ben Bruhns and Miss Harmie Jutting, and one brother, George Jutting, all of Buffalo Center.
She is also survived by seven jrandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her lusband, Lammert Hippen, three sisters, Mrs. Okko Hippen, Mrs. Ben Jruhns and one brother, Wessel Jutting.
She also leaves to mourn her loss a host of other relatives and friends.
In days to come, it may be we shall see Tust why was sent this bitter test; Till then, we can but bow our heads in tears.
