"Held Rites for Lammert Hippen

Death does not come in just the same way to all! The one has warning, the other not. The one has much suffering, the other not. To one it comes early, to another, iate. We gather today in memory of one for whom the last months of Lifewere very severe. Few suffer like he did. It was a difficult road. Somehow God found it best that he should travel this particular road to the end." Thus spake Rev. Wm. R. Everts, who conducted the funeral services for Lammert Hippen,Friday afternoon, January 10th; and

He chose this path for thee, Though well He knew sharp thorns would pierce thy feet, Knew how the brambles would obstruct the way, Knew all the hidden dangers thou shouldst meet, Knew that thy faith-would falter day by day; And still the whisper echoed, "Yes, I see This path is best for thee."

Lammert Hippen was born in Grundy County, Iowa, September 5, 1882, and died in Buffalo Center on January 7, 1941, at about eight thirty o'clock in the morning, at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 2 days. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs.F. L. Hippen, he came to the vicinity of Buffalo Center in 1900, where in 1907, on February 28, he was united in holy wedlock to Annie Jutting. Since 1900 the departed lived near Buffalo Center, with the exception of a year spent inMinnesota. His home was blessed with five children.

Mr. Hippen took a prominent part in both .church and community affairs. Since 1918 he was a member of this, the Reformed Church, where for years he took a very active part. With his special interest in children and young people, it wasonly natural Sunday School work should receive special consideration from him, and it was there that he took a most active part. The Church, and the young people of the Church particularly, have lost a staunch supporter in the death ofMr. Hippen.

Mr. Hippen had been ailing for about two years. How he sought medical relief is well-known to all who knew of him. But sometimes does come an end to our earthly career. For the departed it came at the early age of 58 years. One brotherand one sister preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure, his widow, and the five children: Fred, Fanna (wife of Teddy Albers), Margaret, Arnold and Melvin. There remain also two brothers and three sisters, four grandchildren, and a very large circle of other, more distant relatives, and friends, who all mourn over his death. But,

It is not death to die To leave this weary road, And 'mid the brotherhood on high To-be at home with God. It is not death to close, The eye long dimmed by tears, And wake in glorious repose To spend eternal years. It is not death to fling Aside this sinful dust, And rise on strong exulting wing To live among the just. Jesus, Thou Prince of Life _ Thy chosen can not die. Like Thee they conquer in the strife, To reign with Thee on High." <>
