Lorraine June (Welp) Work, the daughter of Frederick and Jennie (Groen) Welp, was born December 1, 1929, in Woden, Iowa. She passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 79years.

Lorraine grew up in Kossuth County. She attended country school and graduated from Grant Township High School in 1947.

On October 22, 1950, Lorraine was united in marriage to Harvey Eugene Work Sr. at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Ledyard, Iowa. After their marriage, Lorraine and Harvey made their home in the Swea City area where they farmed andraised their family. Lorraine was employed as a cook for a short time at Grant Township School. In 1976, the family moved to a farm outside of Armstrong, Iowa and Lorraine worked for the County Platt Book Company in Algona, Iowa from 1976- 1979. In 1996, they moved into Armstrong. Lorraine was employed as a Certifed Nursing Aide and Medication Aide at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong from 1980 - 2000. Lorraine enjoyed spending time painting and doing craftwork. Hergrandchildren were highlights in her life and she loved sharing her hobbies with them and watching them develop their artistic abilities.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Swea City where she was a member of UMW most of her life. She taught Sunday School for many years when her children were younger and she also directed the Sunday School ChristmasProgram. Lorraine was also a member of the State Line Square Dancer's Club.

Left to cherish Lorraine's memory are her husband, Harvey Sr. of Armstrong; her children, Harvey Eugene Work Jr. of Berlin, Wisconsin; Pamela Marie (Work) Lux of Hartley, Iowa; Lori June (Work) Uken and her husband, Leslie of Clear Lake,Iowa; Paula Kay Work of Swea City; Janine Renee (Work) Kinnander and her husband, Loren of Armstrong; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Geerdes) Work of Swea City; eight grandchildren, Amy (Work) Walter and her husband, Brooks; Mathias Lux and hiswife, Tricia; Jerod Work and his wife, Sheri; Adam Lux and his fiance, Joni Hambrick; Courtney Kinnander; Whitney Kinnander; Claudia Kinnander and Brandy Kinnander; and nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hambrick; Ezra Hambrick; TrinityLux; Jasmine Lux; Peyton Work; Kadin Walter; Kolton Walter; Jordan Lux and Karson Work.

Preceding Lorraine in death were a son, Timothy Lynn; grandson, Spencer Raleigh Kinnander; and her parents
