Funeral Services Held Saturday For Ray Welp

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, November 11 from the Good Hope Lutheran Church for Ray Welp, 70, lon-time resident of the Titonka area. Rev Herbert Hanson officiated, and Blake Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Music was provided by Mrs Leonard Leeck, organist, and the church choir.

Interment was in the Buffalo Township Cemetery. Serving as casket attendants were Elmer Wiegand, Raymond Schutjer, Robert Reynolds, Alfred Redenius, Robert Spear and Bruno Bruns.

Ray Welp was born to Dirk Welp and his wife Gepke Williams Welp on September 12, 1897 at Kamrar, Iowa. He was baptized into the Christian faith in the Presbyterian Church there and also attended Sunday School there. In 1915 he movedwith his family to Buffalo Township, southeast of Titonka.

On September 12, 1928, he was united in marriage with Minnie Krominga. Three children were born to this union, Irvin, Glenn and Marie. They made their home on the home farm in Buffalo Township until 1962 when they retired and moved toTitonka. Other than his retirement years, he farmed all of his life and this was his main interest in life.

Other than some recurring arthritis. Mr Welp was in comparatively good health until the last month of two before his death when he was hospitalized for almost three weeks at Mason City. He passed away on the morning of November 9,1967.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister early in life and two brothers, Fred in 1956 and Adolph in 1961.

He is survived by his wife; three children, Irvin and Glenn of Titonka, and Marie of Algona; one brother, E. D. Welp of Kamrar; two sisters, Mrs Hilke Tempel of Kamrar and Mrs Kate Groen of Burt; one grandchild; and many nieces andnephews. ..." <>
