Note: Viola Hamlin, 84 of George, IA died Thursday October 25, 2001 at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, In Rock Rapids, IA. Born on September 4, 1917 at George, IA she was the daughter of George and Minnie (Ackerman) De Neui. She marriedJohn Hamlin on August 13, 1938. He died December 8, 1973.

She grew up and attended school in George, IA and graduated as class valedictorian. She was employed by the George Community School as head cook for 30 years. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church and involved with the Women'sMissionary Fellowship.

Surviving are 2 sons, Richard (Rosie) Hamlin of Holstein, IA and Douglas (Deanna) Hamlin of George; 1 daughter Carol (Roger) Armstrong, Omaha, NE; 2 brothers Arthur De Neui, Albert Lea, MN, Cliff De Neui, Topeka, KS; 2 sisters Darlene(Kenneth) Harms, George and Mickey (Roger) Kruse, Maple Grove; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The service will be held at 10:30 today at the Central Baptist Church with the Reev Kenneth vik officiating. Bolin Funeral Service, George, IA is in charge of arrangements.

"Hamlin, John - Viola DeNeui

John was the son of Jay and Dora Hamlin of Alvord. The family moved to George and he attended school here. He married Viola, daughter of George and Minne Ackeman DeNeui. She graduated from the class of 1935 as valedictorian of herclass.

John ran his own trucking business for a number of years; delivered milk in George for Moen's Dairy of Sheldon and worked at Sudenga Industries and Younglove Construction Company. He farmed an acreage south of George and raised andtrained horses for 19 years.

Viola was employed at the local school where she was head hot lunch cook for over 30 years.

Their children were graduates of the local school and they are Richard (Rosie), Doughls (Deanna) and Carol (Roger Armstrong)."
