Note: Mitchell Ackerman, 85, of Little rock, IA died Wednesday, December 14, 1994 at the Osceola Community Hospital, Sibley. Born Febraury 25, 1909 in George, IA he was the son of Mike and Mary (Hassebroek) Ackerman. He married Carrie Kruse onJune 15, 1933.

He grew up on the family farm, attended country school and later graduated from George High School. He attended Eastern State Teachers College in Madison, SD where he received a teaching certificate. They made their home in Little Rock,where he worked for Standard Oil. He was a member of the Salem Reformed Church. They began farming in 1936 and settled NW of Ashton, IA. They then purchased a farm near Little Rock in 1940. In November 1988, the couple retired and movedto their home in Little Rock. He remained active on the farm.

Surviving are 3 sons, Eugene Ackerman, Sioux Falls, Dennis Grand Junction CO, and Curtis New Brighton, 1 brother Fred Ackerman George, IA 5 sisters Lena Degroot, Minnie Deneui, and Anna Beek all of George, Martha Julius, Rock Rapids andGrace Drenth, Sheldon, IA. one sister in law Tena Ackerman Sibley, IA 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2-9 pm today with the family present from 6:30-8 at the Walton Roste funeral home, sibley. The service will be 1:30 pm Saturday at the Salem Reformed Church, Little Rock, with the Rev. Brian Hellinga officiating.Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock.
