At the age of 16, she in the company of her sisters left theplace of her birth and came to the community of George where she spent the remainder of her life. In 1893 she was united in marriage to Harm Spieker. This marriage was blesses with 9 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. Her entire wedded life was spent in this vicinity. Her activities and influence did much in making this communitywhat it is now. She saw the community develop in the way of financial advantages, as farmstead after farmstead was built up. She saw the church advantages and arrangements run their course and exert its influence. She herself wasinterested in this particular activity. On the ;las t Sunday of her sojourn on earth she was present in the Sunday School and worship. We can say of this pilgrim she was faithful to the church to the end.

In 1915 she was bereft of her husband leaving her the head of the family. She with her children kept up the family home and continued their occupation. Mrs Spieker always enjoyed good health and took much joy in performing the dailyduties about the house making it a pleasant home for her and the members of her family. The last 2 years she was troubled with a difficulty of the heart. These attacks came on without much warning. On Wednesday July 1 she spent the latter part of the evening quietly in the home retiring about 10. At 11:30 her son was rousedby her call. One of the heart attacks had come upon her, and while her son was summoning the physician she passed away. She attained the age of 63 years, 2 months and 21 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure 4 sons and 3 daughters; Mrs Lena (George) Akkerman, DeSmet, SD; Henry of George; Mrs Tillie (Hy) Kruger, Magnolia, MN; Fred of Willow Lake, SD; John of Rushmore, MN; Mrs Ida (H) Kix of George; and Williamof George. She leaves 18 grandchildren also.
