By these means we wish to inform our relatives friends and acquaintances that it has pleased the Lord over life and death to call Engelke Akkermann through death into eternity on June 27, 1895. He had the desire to depart to be with theLord.

He was born at Neermoor, Ostfriesland on March 13, 1821 and thus reached an age of 74 years 3 months and 14 days.

Our father was a loyal member of the First Presbyterian Church at George Iowa.

His death has been a hard blow for us, yet we remain silent before the Lord's will.

Immigration and Migration to USA Locations.

Engelke Ackermann found in: Germans to America, 1850-1874 #355 Age: 40 Gender: Male Occupation: Shoe Maker Country: Germany Final Destination: United States Manifest ID Number: 00009694 Ship's Name: Bremen Port of Embarkation: Bremen Date of Arrival: Nov 12, 1860 Captain's Name: Henry (Heinrich) Wessels Purpose for Travel: Staying in the USA Mode of Travel: Steerage

By noting where the children were born, it can be concluded that upon Immigration in 1860 that the family settled in or near Baileyville, Ogle County, Illinois upon their arrival in the USA. Peter was born in Baileyville in 1861. They remained there at least until 1870 because Engilina "Angeline" was born in Baileyville and possibly longer since we do not know where Hermina was born.

Email from Jan Miedema on 4/27/02 indicated that the 1880 Forreston Illinois Census listed Ben, Frank, Peter Mike, Reamt, Angeline and Hermina as children at home. Hence, the family was still in Illinois in 1880. Also listed on the stateof Illinois site as receiving his naturalization papers on November 4, 1884 in Ogle county, IL.
