Ted Ver Doorn came to George to work on the highway north of town (339). He married Gladys, who was the daughter of Chris and Lena Ackerman De Groot. He served in the Navy during World War II. While living in George, they were membersof Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

After returning from the service, they moved to Rock Valley and later to California. They raised their children in California and they are Dennis, Sharon, Paul and Daryl." <>
