Funeral services were held for Harvey M Ackerman of Garretson, SD on May 2, 1991 from the Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson, SD. REv. K Roger Johnson officiated with Becky Randall as organist. Casket bearers were John Timmons, DavidTimmons, Jason Spillman, Todd Ackerman, Paul Ackerman, Jr., Joshua Ackerman, Brian Holst, Brad Hoslt, Troy Ackerman, Stanley Ackerman, Jr., Allen Ackerman, Jr., and Damian Ackerman. Internement was in the Ashton, IA cemetery.

Harvey M Ackerman was born April 11, 1916 to parents Edward and Tina Ackerman at Ashton, IA. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school at rural Ashton. He married Fannie Becker on March 13, 1936 at Little Rock. Harveyspent the early years of his life farming in MN. In 1964 he moved to Sioux Falls and began employment with Sunshine Food Stores as a truck driver and warehouse worker. He moved to Sherman in 1971. He retired from Sunshine in 1975. In 1986they moved to Garretson. Harvey had been employed as a schoold bus driver for the Garretson school district until illness forced his retirement. He was a member of the Sioux Falls Moose Lodge.

Leaving to mourn are his wife Fanny of Garretson; 5 sons: Gary, Lebec, CA; Dennis and Gaylen of Sioux Falls; Stanley and Paul of Bakersfield, CA, 2 daughters: Rosalie Holst, Milforn and Janet Timmons, Kerkhoven, MN, his parents Edward andTina Ackerman, Ashton; 3 sisters Marvella Schaa, Little Rock; Verna Bruns, Worthington, MN; and Nellie Bruns, Sioux Falls, SD25 grand children and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters; Deloris and Judy and 1grandson Travis.
