Whitley, Daphne Gwynn "dical62", Old picture of William Alwood, (Pub. location unknown, http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alwood/58.2/mb.ashx xv June MMVI)

"It's probably William Bradford Alwood. Most of his family is around Charlottesville, VA. He is my Great, Great Grandfather. His Granddaughter (Margaret) and Great Grandaughters (Anita and Robbie) are in Seattle, WA and Allentown, PA. Ihave a TON of pictures and journals he wrote. I was just visiting my Grandmother (Margaret) in Charlottesville. She is the last person to leave the "Mountain" where the whole family has lived at one time or another for well over 100years. He also has LOTS of decendents that meet the 3rd Sunday in July (every year since 1961) in Charlottesville. My Grandmother can be reached (until July 25th at 434.293.8945. My mother is there right now as well.

He was very well known in the world of horticulture and wine fermintation. If you do a search under his full name...you'll see some of the work he's done. You can also see if the picture they show there is the one you have. He also had ason with the same name (AND GRANDSON I believe)"

"Do you still have the picture of William Bradford Alwood? I'd love to see it. It may be one I don't have yet. And I read somewhere in the postings that there is a date on the back. Is that correct? Where did you buy the picture andactually I have to ask....WHY did you buy the picture? Also, wanted to let you know that William Bradford had a brother who moved to Washington state and my mother tells me that there is a family reunion THERE (I don't know the specificsbut my mother does) every year around the same time the one in Charlottesville, Va. My mother has been once...and according to them...SHE is the only one of the Alwood decendants on William B's side that they have met. So I doubt any ofthem have seen any of his pics. It seems you do a lot of searches for different people. Wonder if you could give me any assistance on how to find a sister that was adopted out of a VIRGINIA adoption home (I have the name...date...herdoctor...parents etc...but they do not open their records. So...once she was adopted out....we can't find her. And to make it harder...that area of Virginia is close to a navel base...SO..she could have been adopted by ANYONE around thecountry. Or so I've been told..."they could have STARTED the adoption in Virginia and then completed it in another state. Anyhoo....if you have any tips..I'd love to hear 'em!! Her name was Judith Lynn Whitley (MY birth name is DaphneGwynn Whitley and she would have been born around 1961/1962 in Northern Virginia. Mother: Anita Olney Graham Bailey Father: Martin Earl Whitley"
