Lori June (Work) Uken was born March 3, 1958, the daughter of Harvey and Lorraine (Welp) Work. She grew up in the Swea City area, beginning her education in Grant Township and then the Swea City School System. She completed hereducation graduating from Algona High School through Exceptional Opportunities. She lived and worked in the Algoa area for several years after completing school. She later moved to Clear Lake and was employed through OpportunityVillage. In 1999, Lori married her childhood sweetheart, Leslie Ukken. Lori and Leslie continued living and working in Clear Lake. Due to medical concerns Lori moved to the Titonka Care Center in August 2009, where she quickly won thehearts of her caregivers. ... They moved to that farm ijn March of that year. they farmed until Ted passed away August 2, 1966.Emma remained on the farm until March of 1967 when she moved into Titonka. In April of 1977 Emma entered the Titonka Care Center, making her home there until her death on November 4, 1988.

Ted and Emma had two daughters, Marlene and Judy.
