Lori June (Work) Uken was born March 3, 1958, the daughter of Harvey and Lorraine (Welp) Work. She grew up in the Swea City area, beginning her education in Grant Township and then the Swea City School System. She completed hereducation graduating from Algona High School through Exceptional Opportunities. She lived and worked in the Algoa area for several years after completing school. She later moved to Clear Lake and was employed through OpportunityVillage. In 1999, Lori married her childhood sweetheart, Leslie Ukken. Lori and Leslie continued living and working in Clear Lake. Due to medical concerns Lori moved to the Titonka Care Center in August 2009, where she quickly won thehearts of her caregivers. ... Funeral services for Edward R. Uken, who passed away unexpectedly at his home earl Friday morning, March 14, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the United Methodist Church in Titonka with the Rev. Gordon Vickery officiating.Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Jack Tieman, organist, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hanson, vocalists.

Serving as casket attendants were William Madsen, Leon Dumstorff, George Schuster, Willaim Amesbury, Edward Wilcox and Wilbur Spear. Interment was in the Buffalo Township Cemetery. Blake Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edward Uken, 51, the son of John and Christina (Ricks) Uken, was born September 28, 1928 at Titonka. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict for two years, 1953 and 1954.

On September 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marlene DeBoer at the Methodist Church in Titonka. To this union were born two sons, Gary and Leslie.

Ed was engaged in farming until the time of his death.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Titonka, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4071, and the American Legion Post #465.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene; two sons, Gary of Titonka and Leslie at home; his father, John Uken of Titonka; and one brother, George of Titonka.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1957."

His Korean War rank was Corporal.

They moved to that farm ijn March of that year. they farmed until Ted passed away August 2, 1966.Emma remained on the farm until March of 1967 when she moved into Titonka. In April of 1977 Emma entered the Titonka Care Center, making her home there until her death on November 4, 1988.

Ted and Emma had two daughters, Marlene and Judy.

MARLENE married Edward Uken September 25, 1955. They farmed west of Titonka, Iowa. Two sons were born to them, Gary and Leslie. ..."
