Michael Joseph Kane, 83, died suddenly on Aug. 21, 2012.

Family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, N.J.,

Following discharge from the Marine Corps, he married his love, Margaret Rose O'Neill, in 1953. They remained in Jersey City, where they raised their five children, until 1970, when they made their new home in Rutherford, N.J.

Michael earned his bachelor's degree in marketing at St. Peter's College in Jersey City. Much of his career was centred in management and sales until his retirement in 2001.

He was an avid golfer and spent many years as a member of the Suburban Golf Club in Union, N.J. His greatest joy was being a husband, a father and a grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Rose; his children, Patricia and Gary Parks, Maureen Kane, Peggy and Joseph Keating, Jean Marie and Brian McCarthy and Michael Kane; his grandchildren, Brian, Alison, Joseph, Michael, Grace Liam, Matthew and Dylan, and his siblings, Susan Reynolds and John Kane.

He was predeceased by six siblings, Patrick Kane, James Kane, Francis Kane, Anna Kane, Rose Kane and Jeanette Urbano. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews as well as his cherished friends.
