Question/answer » What can participants do and not do in my family archive?

A family archive has two roles: the family archivist and the participants. You are the archivist. Everyone you invite is a participant.

What participants can do

  • View all photos, documents, stories and news items.
  • Add photos and documents themselves.
  • Write stories.
  • Respond to photos, stories and news. For example to say who is in a photo.
  • Add keywords to photos.
  • Mark favourites and search the archive.
  • Set which e-mails they receive.

What only you as archivist can do

  • Invite and remove participants.
  • Post news items and make them public.
  • Send newsletters.
  • Change the appearance, manage keywords and set the order of photos.
  • Link the archive to your publication on Genealogy Online.
  • Export or delete the whole archive.

There is no "view only" role. Every participant can contribute. That is the idea: together you make the archive complete.
