    Menno Bennema sr, * 13.8.1702 was eigenerfde boer te Noordhorn, waar hij woonde op boerderij “Mokkenburg”. Hij was een aantal keren gecommitteerde raad. Bij de doop van zijn zoon Menno junior wordt hij 'meester' genoemd. Hij was geen onderwijzer, maar rekenmeester. Dat laatste blijkt ook uit de doopinschrijving van zijn zoon Jacobus Emo. Menno Bennema was een zoon van Hendrik Bennema, † 1731.
