    Tjitse (Titus) Bennema, ged. in Noordhorn op 18-4-1734, luitenant, vermoedelijk overleden na 1805.

    "de Heer Luitenant Titus Bennema, volle broeder..." (gedeelte uit het huwelijkscontract van zijn zus Catharina Bennema en Berend Jans Prummel).

    Tjitse (Titus) Bennema, gedoopt 18-4-1734 te Noordhorn als z.v. Menno Bennema en Sijtske van Toutenburgh, zeeofficier, schrijft een brief vanuit Livorno 8 febr. 1771 naar zijn vader en oom. Hij wordt als getuige genoemd in het hc van zijn zuster Catharina Bennema in Wildervank op 17 nov. 1780. Hij wordt nog wel genoemd in de Rechterlijke Archieven onder nr. LXXII h.2.folio 50 dd 28-5-1805 (Lieutenant T. Bennema).

    In 1763 was er een slavenopstand uitgebroken op de Westindische plantage Berbice. Dat was toen een Nederlandse kolonie. Kapitein Haringman uit Vlissingen kreeg de opdracht om orde op zaken te stellen. Op 26 december 1763 kwam het Nederlandse leger in een hinderlaag terecht. Drie officieren van de landmacht werden daarbij gedood. De luitenants ter zee Pichot en Bennema raakten zwaar gewond. De voornaam van Bennema wordt niet genoemd, maar vermoedelijk gaat het hier om Tjitse Bennema.
