E: Alpaïs of Chalpaïs. Van haar is niet veel bekend behalve dat zij reeds de tweede vrouw van Pepijn zou zijn geweest toen die nog getrouwd was met Plectrude, de theorie dat zij eerder een concubine was dan zijn echtgenote lag natuurlijk voor de hand, zij werd door verschillende bronnen genoemd, o.a. de kroniek van Frédégaire waarin ze beschreven wordt als “noble et charmante”, maar aangezien deze kroniek geredigeerd werd door Childebrand, broer van Karel Martel, is dit amper objectief te noemen.
Uit een tweede biografie van St. Landbert zou blijken dat deze kerkvorst Pepijn regelmatig zijn huwelijk met Alpaïde verweet omdat Plectrude nog leefde, reden dat deze vermoord werd op aanstichten zelfs van Alpaïde, het vervolg laat zich lezen als een –bloedige- roman, echter een uit die tijd daterende eerdere biografie van St. Landbert gaf aan dat Landbert vermoord werd door handlangers van Dodo als wraak op de moord van Dodo’s ouders op instignatie van Landbert; Alpaïde werd hierin wel genoemd als rechtmatige echtgenote van Pepijn maar zonder haar op enigerlei manier bij de moord te betrekken.
