Everett took Pre-Med at University of Oregon, followed by studies at the U. of O. Medical School in Portland. On completion he interned in hospitals in that city followed by a tour in the Navy Medical Corps. He then entered private practice for several years. He then re-joined the Navy Medical Corps for WWII and served with distinction in the Pacific Theater leaving the service at Wars end with rank of Captain. He and his younger brother practice privately in Boise, Idaho.
