Lewis was the first of 14 children born to Thomas and Florence Bosma. He spent his entire life in the vicinity of Buffalo Center. As a young man, he worked as a farm hand for several of the area farmers. He also worked for Carl Wesselsduring the construction of the road which passed the south side of Stevens, Iowa. In the mid-1920's, he and a brother (Edward) started farming near Stevens, approximately six miles northwest of Buffalo Center."

"On September 14, 1927, he married Louise A. Maass. Their marriage was blessed with seven surviving children: Donald L., Arnold H., Doris A. (Haroldson), Howard L., Shirley M., Marvin D., and Glen R.

On March 1, 1939, Lewis and family moved to the farm which he had purchased, approximately three and a half miles southwest of Buffalo Center. Lewis preceded his wife, Louise, in death by more than 13 years. They were members of theFirst Reformed Church of Buffalo Center since 1942. They are interred at the Olena Mound Cemetery near Buffalo Center."

"Funeral Services Held April 5 for Lewis Bosnia, 58

Funeral services for Lewis Bosma, 68, of Buffalo Center were held Monday afternoon, April 5, 1971, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. Henry Vender Schaaf officiating. Winter Funeral Service was in chargeof arrangements and interment was in Olena Mound cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fred Hippen, Eddie Brass, Jack Frerichs, Peter Voogd, John Bruhns and Alvin Gerzema.

Lewis Bosma was born on November 18, 1902 to Thomas Bosma and Florence Adams at Buffalo Center, Iowa. His entire lifetime was lived in the vicinity of Buffalo Center.

On September 14, 1927 he was united in marriage to Louise Maass. This union was blessed with seven children who are all living. The first twelve years of his married life he farmed near Stevens, Iowa which was a short distance northwestof Buffalo Center, Iowa. The remaining years he lived on a farm southwest of Buffalo Center.

During the first 23 years of his married life he was a member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Stevens, Iowa. On June 25, 1950 he was received in to the First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center, Iowa and proved himself a faithfulmember. For nine years he served on the consistory, one term as deacon and two terms as elder.

Mr. Bosma was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Martha and one brother, Burt.

He became ill and underwent major surgery about a year ago. Thursday morning, April 1, he suffered a heart attack and passed away before reaching the hospital. Mr. Bosma had reached the age, of 68 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Those surviving him are his beloved wife, Louise; his seven children namely: Donald and Arnold of Indianapolis, Indiana; (Doris) Mrs. William Haroldson, Morton, Illinois; Howard, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Shirley of Twin Fails, Idaho;Marvin of Buffalo Center, Iowa; Glen of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Edward, Thomas and Heiko of Buffalo Center, Iowa; (Annabelle) Mrs. Norman Oswald Frost, Minnesota; (Lillian) Mrs Paul Mastin, Buffalo CenterIowa; (Bessie) Mrs. Harold Weaver, Buffalo Center, Iowa; (Esther) Mrs. Ralph Mastin, Elmore, Minnesota; (Grace) Mrs. Harvey Hassebroek, Buffalo Center, Iowa; (Irene) Mrs. Earl Burger, Kenosha, Wisconsin and Alfred and Clarence, both ofBuffalo Center, Iowa; also nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends." <>
