Notes about Gerrit Arents Camphorst

Landbouwer met knecht en meid , 2 heerdsteden en 6,67 morgen bezaaid land. Betaalde samen met zoon
Teunis 36 gulden pacht. (bron Lijst van alle ingezetenen inden Ampte van Apeldoorn December 1747,
droeg in 1722 2 gulden bij aan kosten beroepen predikant van Apeldoorn (bron : Cedule van
uitsettinghe 's kerspels Apeldoorn, kosten over 't beroep van den tegenwoordige predicant Ds.
Theordorus van Eijbergen. Oud Archief Apeldoorn)Volgens een bevolkingsregistratie was Gerrit in
1747 en 1749 landbouwer te Wiesel, met een schaapherder en een meid, 2 heerdsteden en 6,67 morgen
bezaaide zandgrond. Uit een akte uit 1749 blijkt dat zijn grond ten zuiden aan "de gemeente"
grensde en ten noorden aan de Molenbeek. De aanwezigheid van een inwonende schaapherder in
Gerrit's huis geeft aan dat Gerrit graasrechten had in de "gemene gronden" van de marke van
Wiesel. Tot het midden van de negentiende eeuw was de Veluwe voor het grootste deel bedekt met
heidevelden, waarop schapen konden grazen. De schapen werden niet alleen gehouden voor de wol,
maar ook voor de mest. Gedurende de nacht werden zij daarvoor ondergebracht in schappskooien op
schappskotten, waarin zij hun uitwerpselen achterlieten. De foto toon het scheren van de schapen
bij een schaapskooi. In 1753 moest Gerrit fl. 7,-- betalen voor heerlijkheidslasten aan de
Heerlijkheid 't Loo. Dit was de hoogste aanslag die in het kerspel Apeldoorn aan een Kamphorst
werd opgelegd. Ook Gerrit's consumptie was aanmerkelijk hoger dan van de andere Kamphorsten.
Dezelfde Heerlijkheid stuurde hem over de jaren 1752 en 1753 een hogere omslag, nl. 6 stuiver
voor wijn en azijn, 2 gulden voor bieren, 16 gulden voor vijf "specien" en 12 stuiver voor
moutcijs en zeep. Op 30 april 1701 verscheen als getuige voor de "scholtis des Ampts Apeldoorn"
Gerrit Camphorst, oud ongeveer 30 jaren. Hij verklaarde te weten dat "de buirrichter van Wijssel
4 jaar geleden op Sonnendach hadde kerckespraeck laeten doen tot Apeldoorn, dat alle
uijtheijmsche die turft uijt Wijsselerveldt hadden gegraeven souden coomen op maendag daeraen
ende wijsen haer turft aen ende accorderen daerover." Gerrit had gezien dat op diezelfde
"Sonnendach nae de middach" enkele "uijtheijmsche waegens int Wijsselerveldt sijn gecomen om
turft te haelen" en dat "Jan Dercx van Weenum oock daerbij was". Jan Dercx had beloofd dat hij
"des anderen daechs bij de buirrichter en de erfgenaemen van Wijssel" zou komen om "over die
breucke van sijn gegraeven turft te accorderen." Jan Dercx werd ervan beschuldigd de turven niet
betaald te hebben, maar de scheuter van de marke van Wijssel beweerde gezien te hebben dat Jan
Dercx aan de buirrichter twee gulden betaalde. Mogelijk was hier corruptie in het spel.
