Kornelis is gedoopt op 7 november 1755 in de Martinikerk en geboren aan de Kostersgang in Groningen. Zijn ouders staan vermeld als Jakob Kornelisz en Marieke Jans. Lutgertje is gedoopt als Luttie op 26 maart 1758 in Hoogezand. Haar ouders staan vermeld als Aaldrik Jans en Janna Willems.
In het Ondertrouwboek Groningen 1776-1783, folio 209v is op 30 december 1780 het voorgenomen huwelijk geregistreerd van Cornelis Jacobs, van Groningen met Lutgertje Aaldriks, van Groningen, pro qua Aaldrik Jans als vader. Op 18 januari 1781 wordt hun huwelijk bevestigd in de Nieuwe Kerk in Groningen. De bruidegom is dan 25 jaar oud en de bruid is dan 22 jaar oud en zij hebben dan reeds een kind Jakob, want die wordt de volgende dag gedoopt in de Martinikerk in Groningen. Zij wonen volgens die doopakte aan de westzijde van de Herebrug In Groningen en de moeder staat dan vermeld als Lutgertien Aaldriks. Haar doopnaam is volgens het Doop- en trouwboek Hoogezand 1720-1811, folio 66v: 'Luttie'.
