Notes about Willem "Willem" Saaij

Willem Saaij, oudste zoon van Willem Bernardus Saaij en Maria Geertruida van Vooren, wordt volgens de trouwakte van de ouders op 31-10-1906 door de vader erkend. Hij had als eerste beroep schoenmaker. Hij leerde zijn vak toen hij als dienstplichtig soldaat zijn tijd volmaakte in het leger. Eenmaal weer burger kwam hij in dienst bij schoenfabriek Kleijberg te Vlissingen. Later werd hij ijzerwerkerop de scheepswerf De Schelde en bleef dat tot aan zijn pensoein. Hij trouwde in Dongen met Huiberdina Verhoeven. Zij was naaister. Zij overleed, bijna 48 jaar oud, aan bloedvergiftiging.
