Piet was machinebankwerker; voor de oorlog werkzaam bij de Delftse constructiewerkplaats Snor, later bij Cardolus; vanaf 1942 werknemer bij Philips Eindhoven. Werd in 1943 te werk gesteld in Erlangen bij Neurenberg. Kwam na de oorlog terug
bij Philips, waar hij gereedschappen ontwierp voor metaalbewerking. Was hele Eindhovense periode een aktief diaken van de de NH-kerk.
