Notes about Neeltje Garritsen

Na het ddorlopen van de lagere school werkte ze mee op de boerderij van haar ouders. in die tijd was ze kattig en brutaal. Haar moeder had het moeilijk met haar. De kinderen moesten hard meewerken en mochten weinig uit. Nelie protesteerde daar tegen..

Ze had een nogal moeilijk karakter en had op iedereen wat aan te merken.

Zij huwde met Arie Simonsz Lap. Haar huwelijk bleef kinderloos.

Op 7 juli 1915 vertrokken zij naar Amsterdam, waar Arie hoofd van een school in een volksbuurt werd. Ze woonden er op het Frederik Hendriksplantsoen.

Enige jaren na de dood van haar man trok ze terug naar Texel. Ze woonde eerst op kamers en ging tenslotte naar een bejaardenhuis in Den Burg. Ze werd dement en moest naar een verpleeghuis in Wieringen. Daar overleed zij. ze liet haar totale vermogen na aan de Stichting Bakker-Keijser-verpleeghuis en leverde daardoor een belangrijke bijdrage aan de bouw van het verpleeghuis, dat op 4 okt. 1977 op Texel werd geopend.
