Mr. Cornelius A. Kuyper was born October 2, 1880 at Orange City,Ia. where he spent his boyhood years and obtained his early education, graduating from the Northwestern Classical Academy. Following up his education, he finished a course in dentistry at the Northwestern University of Chicago and practiced the same for seven years. Ill health compelled him to give up his practice and he returned to his farm in Sioux county. On March 15, 1917 he was married to Christina Van Roekel and to this union three children were born, namely, Maria Mathilda, Eugene Gordon, and Robert Murray, all at home. Besides these, he leaves to mourn Elizabeth Schalekamp of Santa Ana, Calif. R. H. Schalekamp from Sheldon, Mrs. Merle McNutt from Sheldon, Mrs. Gerrit Noteboom of Orange City, Mrs. Mary Van Wyk from
Santa Ana, Calif., Henry J. Schalekamp from Sioux Center, Mrs. Tena De Jong from Orange City, Miss Cynthia Schalekamp from Santa Ana, Calif., Mrs. Kate Orton from Sioux City and Neal Schalekamp from Orange City.
Mr. Kuyper was a member of the Central Reformed church of Sioux Center and served as deacon and elder for many years. He also served as director and treasurer of the Welcrme township school. He was a consecrated and consistent Christian, a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, and a loyal citizen.
The community and friends mourn at this sudden departure, and extend their heart-felt sympathy to the bereaved.
Funeral services will be held at the Central Reformed church in Sioux Center Friday: Feb. 18 at 2 o'clock, Rev. Meengs officiating. Burial will be at Sioux Center.
