Hij was betrokken bij de invasie op het strand van Omaha, Normandië en de Slag om de bobbel.In 1947 trouwde hij met Julia Lemmen en was hij meer dan 25 jaar in Haworth werkzaam als voorbeeldmaker.Lester was al lang lid van de 6e hervormde kerk die diende op consistorieën uit het verleden en was recentelijk lid van de hervormde kerk van Calvary.Zijn vrouw Julie ging hem na 67 jaar huwelijk in 2014 voor in de dood.Een man van groot geloof en integriteit, Lester had een liefde voor zijn gezin en het buitenleven.Hij wordt overleefd door zijn kinderen; Lloyd en Ellen Kaper vanHamilton, Sandra en Bob Bishop van Holland, kleinkinderen; Wendy Langeland, Stephanie Kaper-Dale, Bradley Bishop, Daniel Bishop, 10 achterkleinkinderen; Zuster, Marsha Stegenga, Midge Lemen en Mildred Lemmen heel Holland evenals verschillende nichten en neven.Begrafenisdienst wordt dinsdag 13:00 uur gehouden in Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd. St. met eerwaarde Ron Beyer officiërend. De begrafenis zal plaatsvinden op Pilgrim Home Cemetery.Vrienden kunnen de familie maandag 6-8 in de kapel bellen.Herdenkingsgeschenken kunnen worden gegeven in de naam van Lester aan Alzheimers Association.
