Notes about Albert Kaper

In 1903 kwam de jonge Albert met zijn moeder en anderen naar Amerika en verhuisde hij vaak door de regio Holland en Zeeland, MI, terwijl hij opgroeide.Dina groeide op op de boerderij van het gezin.Dina vertelde Albert dat ze zwanger was tijdens een boottocht op Black Lake in Holland en ze trouwden al snel.Ze woonden eerst op Central Avenue in Holland en later op een boerderij in Hamilton, waar ze selderij en uien verbouwden.In 1918 verhuisden ze ongeveer een jaar naar Rochester, NY, waar Albert kapper was.Hij bleef kapper in Holland, totdat ze in 1929 terugverhuisden naar de boerderij van Hamilton. Op hun land hadden ze een paar oliebronnen, waarvan de opbrengst varieerde maar vaak 300 vaten per dag bereikte;het geld dat ze hiermee verdienden, hielp hen enorm om hun vele schulden af te betalen.De depressie trof het gezin behoorlijk hard, net als de afwezigheid van beide zonen tijdens de latere oorlog.Begin jaren vijftig verhuisden ze naar 391 East 8th Street in Holland, waar hij zijn eigen kappersstoel had.Albert stond bekend als een relaxte man met veel vrienden en een goede verhalenverteller.Dina had veel vrienden en was een goede kok, maar raakte ook snel overstuur en wilde altijd haar zin krijgen.Later in haar leven hield ze veel plakboeken bij en haakte ze vaak tafelkleden, maar scheurde ze die vervolgens uit elkaar en begon ze opnieuw.Ze stierf plotseling aan een hartaanval tijdens een vakantie in Gatlinburg, TN, met haar zoon Lester en zijn vrouw Julia.Nadat Dina stierf, trouwde Albert op 1 juli 1965 met Antonette Ver Schure. Hij leefde zijn laatste jaar met zoon Donald en Irene.Alberts doodsoorzaak werd vermeld als cerebrovasculaire trombose.
