    Zijn geboorteakte is ondertekend door zijn vader.
    Arnold en zijn vrouw Zeefke hebben vanaf hun huwelijk te Schinveld gewoond, aan de Brunssummerstraat 11 later vernummerd 13 nog later 33, waar ook hun houthandel gevestigd was. Arnold was vele jaren gemeenteraadslid van de gemeente Schinveld, vóór en ná de 2e wereldoorlog, waarvan ook een aantal jaren als wethouder. Ook was hij vele jaren voorzitter van de woningbouwvereniging in deze gemeente.
    In 1950, een "Heilig Jaar", heeft hij samen met zijn broers Sjang en Joseph en hun echtgenotes (en enkele tientallen andere pelgrims) een Rome-reis van 14 dagen gemaakt, waarvan hij een nauwkeurig dagboek heeft bijgehouden. Zijn vrouw Zeefke bleef thuis bij de kinderen. Jarenlang heeft hij bezoekers thuis in geuren en kleuren van zijn Rome-reis verteld aan de hand van een schoenendoos vol met (zwartwit) foto's.
    Vanaf zijn jongere jaren tot aan de 2e wereldoorlog blies hij de bastrombone in de harmonie St.Caecilia te Schinveld. Hij was zozeer verknocht aan dit muziekgezelschap dat hij op het terrein van zijn houthandel een repetitielokaal liet bouwen, waarin de harmonie tot aan de 2e wereldoorlog repeteerde.
    Met vooruitziende blik liet hij in de laatste jaren vóór de 2e wereldoorlog op het terrein van de houthandel een schuilkelder bouwen, waarin zijn gezin en omwonenden hun toevlucht zochten als de sirenes afgingen.
