Hij werd voor 2 jaar in een tehuis voor jongens geplaatst, maar liep daar altijd weg. Waarom hij daar heen moest, is niet bekend. Hij is nooit getrouwd en zwierf altijd rond. Hij nam wel vaak werk aan bij een boer. Toch zag hij er altijd goed verzorgd uit. Een echte heer met goede manieren! Te vinden in het bevolkingsregister van Dordrecht (1917-1938)

Op 30-7-1941 meldt Coenraad (76 jaar) bij de politie van Amsterdam dat hij in de laatste maanden al zijn distributiebescheiden heeft verkocht an hem onbekende personen. Nu kan hij worden opgenomen in het Gemeentelijk Verzorgingshuis voor ouden van dagen, wanneer hij de bescheiden heeft. Er betaat goede hoop dat de Distributiedienst hem andere bescheiden geeft en daarom geeft de politie hem een rapport mee voor het Verzorgingshuis, ook in verband met zijn toestand. Hij is z.v.w. (zonder verblijf-woning?)
