Antje Alta (P969) (born 31/3/1878)
Antje Alta was the second child born to Jacobus and Geeske, Antje moved to Hull from Harlingen along with the rest of her family on 30th October 1894. In 1901 she lived in the family home at 15 Villa Place, Hull. The 1901 census show her age as 23, her occupation was a Dressmaker. Antje married Franz Ritter (Franz was possibly a German sailor). They had three children – Jacobus Dirk F who was born in 1905, Gertrude who was born in 1908 and Annie who was born in 1909.

My mother has a vague memory of a story about her father having a cousin who was German and was killed during the second World War (at the Russian front) - this would make sense if Antje had moved to Germany and if their son Jacobus Dirk F (possibly Franz??) Ritter (born 1905) had been called into the German army (he would have been aged 34 in 1939). Would you have any way of checking this out??
