Sir John Elphinstone, 4th Bt. was born on 11 January 1717.1 He was the son of Sir John Elphinstone, 2nd Bt. and Mary Elliot.2 He died in January 1743, unmarried.1

Sir John Elphinstone, 4th Bt. succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Elphinstone, of Logie Elphinstone, co. Aberdeen and Nova Scotia [N.S., 1701] in April 1739.1 On his death, the baronetcy became dormant until 1927.1
