Mary Elliot was the daughter of Sir Gilbert Elliot, 1st Bt..2 She married Sir John Elphinstone, 2nd Bt., son of Sir James Elphinstone, 1st Bt. and Cecilia Denholme, on 23 August 1703.1 She died on 18 May 1767.1

From 23 August 1703, her married name became Elphinstone.1
