Kathryn Wollenburg, the daughter of Able and Anna Kuper Dirks, was born August 23, 1920 on a farm in Nobles County, MN. Katie later worked for Walt and Carie Freeland as a hired girl on their farm. During this time she met her husbandto be Raymond Wollenburg. On August 23, 1942 she and Raymond Wollenburg were married at Brewster, MN. Following thier marriage they farmed west of Fulda, MN until 1945 when Ray was drafted to serve in World War II. During this timeKatie and her son, Robert moved in with her parents in Fulda. Following Ray's discharge they moved to a farm northeast of Fulda for a short time. then in 1947 they moved to9 a farm north of Reading, MN. Katie later worked at CampbellSoup in Worthington. In 1978 they moved to Reading. Ray passed away on February 2, 1999. Katie continued to live at home until May 27, 2003 when she entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN. She passed away on June 29, 2003 atthe Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 82. Katie was a member of Immanuel American Lutheran Church, rural Fulda where she was active in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, fishing, and her flower garden.

Survivors include her son, Robert Wollenburg and his wife Barb of Ramsey, MN, three daughters and their husbands, Janet and Charles Cran of Amery, WI, Shari Wollenburg of Round Lake, MN and Linda and Rob Lane of Palisade, MN; ninegrandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers, Mike, Henry, Herman, Abel, John, Louis, George, and Elmer Dirks, and four sisters, Ann VanHorn, Lena Funk, Dena Highfill andGrace Dirks.

Funeral services will be held at Immanuel American Lutheran Church on July 3, 2003 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Duane Hetland officiating. The organist is Marlene Sievers. The pallbearers are Michael Cran, Scott Cran, Raymond W. J. Lane,Robert W. H. Lane, Daniel Jensen, and Robert R. Wollenburg Jr. The honorary pallbearers are James Lathrop, Hohn Groninga, Kyle Timmerman, Henry Funk, Larry Wollenburg, Pam Wollenburg, John 'Bud' and Gert Meinders, Mary and Vicki Kuipers,Gary and Marjean Ross, Gary and Barb Deuschle [?] Cecil 'Bud' and Sharon Fritz, Adam and Nancy Bakke, Ronald and Cindy Wollenburg, Sandy Sloan and Joani Stein. Interment at Immanuel American Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be on Wed. from 4-8 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.' <>
