'Eldena Highfill, 84

OCEANSIDE - Eldena Highfill, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, of cancer at her home.

Born Aug. 4, 1915, in Reading, Minn, she lived in Oceanside for 25 years.

Mrs. Highfill was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Duane Lathrop, in October 1989. She is survived by her sons, James L. Lathrop of Brea and Eugene O. Lathrop of Newbury Park; brother George Dirks of Avaca [Avoca, Murray Co.] MInn.;sister Katie Wollenburg of Reading; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Carlsbad, with the Rev. Gary N. Harr officiating.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Rd., Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92108.
